Let Her Be

Stayed too late at the party
Was a little more I could’ve said
As soon as my head hits the pillow
I’ll live over and over regrets

No time to wash off bad feelings
Too tired to give you my due
Someday this will all seem so much clearer
But I don’t see me changing real soon

Too much rum and forgetting
So many others help fill the void
Those attending me will find out later
There’s nothing they could’ve done

Running so freely in my daze
My hair blowing wild in the breeze
Please don’t give up I am screaming
Only it comes as a whisper
To anyone listening
And I’m ignored as the eccentric
The dramatic, the poetic
Let’s nod so sagely and just let her be
